the Bahamas
FTX maintained its corporate headquarters and offices in the Bahamas, where employees lived in company housing, including a luxury apartment shared by Bankman-Fried and others. The prosecution alleged that customer money funded Bahamas real estate, while the defense characterized the properties as legitimate corporate housing used to recruit employees. Testimony also addressed meetings with the Securities Commission of the Bahamas, the surrender and return of passports, brief withdrawals for Bahamian customers, and later communications with local regulators and liquidators.
FTX headquarters in Nassau, Bahamas
Witnesses described the Nassau office as the setting for discussions about the fiat-accounting bug and Alameda’s balances. Testimony also placed the later turnover of the premises and regulator-directed transfer of FTX assets there, followed by contact with Bahamian police.
Hong Kong
Hong Kong housed Alameda and FTX offices and was described as their headquarters during portions of their early operations. Gary Wang testified that he discussed Alameda's negative balance with Bankman-Fried in the shared Hong Kong office, while Bankman-Fried testified that work leading to FTX's founding began there.
Securities Commission of the Bahamas offices
Testimony placed Bankman-Fried, his counsel, his father, commission personnel, and provisional liquidators at the offices for a November 12 interview lasting nearly three hours. Gary Wang testified that he waited outside the meeting and was directed by commission head Christina Rolle to transfer remaining FTX assets to the commission.
The Albany
Adam Yedidia testified that he lived with Bankman-Fried in a penthouse at The Albany and, near its paddle tennis courts, told him about approximately $8 billion that Alameda owed FTX customers. Bankman-Fried later testified that he worked from a rented Albany apartment and spoke with Can Sun while walking around the resort before a follow-up call about a potential multibillion-dollar investment.
