Thane Rehn served on the prosecution team, examining witnesses during both the government’s case and the defense case. He conducted the direct examinations of Kungyu Matthew Huang, Paige Owens, and Robert Boroujerdi, as well as Owens’s redirect examination.
Rehn later cross-examined defense witness Joseph Pimbley. His trial work therefore included presenting testimony for the prosecution and questioning a witness called by the defense.
Rehn also participated in the Day 17 charge conference, addressing proposed instruction language on good faith, the phrase “voluntarily and with wrongful purpose,” and aiding-and-abetting treatment when another person committed the substantive offense. The court proposed revised wording and asked whether it addressed his point, but the transcript does not establish the final disposition of every disputed provision.
