Christian Drappi

Called by the government on Day 7, Drappi described his work as an Alameda software engineer, the firm's staffing and communications, and his observations of its leadership. He testified that after Bankman-Fried left the Alameda CEO title, Bankman-Fried remained in contact with employees, retained access to internal trading data, and weighed in on large trades.

Drappi recounted Caroline Ellison's November 8 explanation that Alameda's borrowing of FTX customer deposits had produced a shortfall. He also described the November 9 all-hands meeting, testified that Ellison named Bankman-Fried, Gary Wang, Nishad Singh, and herself as knowing about the use of customer deposits, and authenticated six audio excerpts with corresponding transcripts. Drappi said he had not previously known that Alameda borrowed customer deposits to repay loans, was shocked by the disclosure, and resigned within 24 hours of the meeting.

Cross-examination tested his account of access to Alameda's pointer data system, including whether people other than Bankman-Fried had access. The court required precise questions after objections that portions of the questioning mischaracterized his testimony or failed to identify the relevant entity, and Drappi identified other people with access. During direct examination, foundation challenges also led the court to strike one answer about reporting lines and require questions grounded in Drappi's personal observations.
